La Màquina de Llull

The first Catalan-language podcast that looks at artificial intelligence through humanism, ethics and philosophy. With Marçal Font and Xavier Vinaixa.

400 years before Leibniz, 500 years before Boole's algebra, 600 years before Ritchie's C code, a Jew, a Muslim, a Gentile and the blessed Ramon Llull sat down by a cool spring with Wisdom, setting their scriptures aside, to talk together, to think collectively, about the worldly and the divine.

We are Marçal Font and Xavier Vinaixa, and we invite you to do the same: to sit down and think collectively on the new podcast La Màquina de Llull, putting a humanist lens on AI — no apocalypse, a positive outlook.

What is La Màquina de Llull?

La Màquina de Llull is the first Catalan-language podcast that approaches artificial intelligence through a humanist, ethical and philosophical lens. No apocalypse and a positive outlook: we put AI under the microscope of the humanities.

Seven centuries ago, Ramon Llull already devised a mechanical system of logical combinations to organise knowledge —the Ars Magna—, and many of us consider him an absolute pioneer of the combinatorial logic that, centuries later, would make computing possible. In that universal spirit, Marçal Font and Xavi Vinaixa talk about how AI is transforming the arts, culture, science and our society.

The hosts

Marçal Font Espí — professor in the Department of Literary Studies at the UB, bookseller and poet, of the Llibreria Fènix bookshop in Badalona.

Xavier Vinaixa — CTO at Sorensen.ai, an AI expert working from humanism and ethics.

With Catalan Sign Language

Every session features a Catalan Sign Language (LSC) interpreter. Because we are convinced that if we are not all there, a part of each of us is missing.
